Guilt-Free Treats: Stoked Oats Oatmeal Cookies

We’ve all been there before; the sweeping declarations to not indulge your sweet tooth in the name of better eating. All is good at the start, but that nagging voice in the back of your head slowly gets louder.

Chocolate! Cookies! You can treat yourself, one won’t hurt…

Before you know it, you’re elbow-deep in a box of Oreos. Well, in the name of satisfying both your sweet tooth and your macros, I’ve started experimenting with what I jokingly call ‘protein baking’. First up; chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, with a twist!

A Note on Training Partners

I have such a bad habit of writing massive essays, so I’ll try to make this a bit more concise 😛

I used to, well ok I still do, complain about how no one who works up at the plant really lifts/ trains the same way I do. I have such awesome people to train with when I’m in town, but that’s only 2-3 days/ week tops since I’m at the plant for 4. I used it a lot as an excuse to skip training days and generally have my own pity party

Meal Prep Mondays: Turkey and Spinach Stuffed Sweet Potatoes

Eating is hard, man, especially if you’re trying to stick to a meal plan. I normally try to really watch what I eat to ensure my weight doesn’t wander off on me too much, and I’m currently in the process of trying to cut weight for my powerlifting meet in May.

As some of you know, I work out of town and live at a worksite camp 4 days a week. The food here is borderline at best, and certainly isn’t meant for someone who’s trying to keep track of their macros! With all that in mind, I’m trying to prep my lunches for the week to keep my eating on track. I figured I’d share my weekly creations with you all – welcome to Meal Prep Mondays!

5 Things I Learned from Doing the 2014 Crossfit Open

An old post of mine from my first Open. I pulled this out of the ol’ archives from my Tumblr while prepping for the 2016 Open, and I think a lot of what I talk about here is relevant for any competition.

With 4 of the 5 Open workouts done and dusted, well, at least for me, I figured it was a good time to take a moment and reflect a bit on what I’ve learned from the past little bit of prepping for the Open.
